[ Oh, no, Zell. You've made a tactical error in being flustered, because Jim is digging his heels in ever so slightly. Not enough to provide true resistance, but enough to call a "nice to meet you!" over his shoulder at Zell's Ma.
It had been, even if she wasn't real. It just makes him want to meet the real thing more.
[ Jim's grin lights up his face at the echo of Zell's younger self as they pound up the stairs. He comes to the top, surprised to find it so open, and surveys the room.
Considering the state of Zell's pack - and Jim's pack, if Zell's allowed to touch it - he's really not surprised at the state of the room. The decorations are closer to Norfinbury than Jim's world, but they suit Zell, and the twin punching bags are an obvious touch. ]
I like it.
[ He's drawn to the guns, first, and finds himself staring up at the picture of Zell's grandfather. ]
[ Maybe he's getting used to this place. The echo of Rinoa feels only a little strange; he shakes off the disconcerted feeling and turns back to the guns.
Zell was right to warn him, because Jim's already taking the smaller of the set off the display before: ]
Can I?
[ Already the way they work is echoing between them, unsure if it's coming from Jim's mind or Zell's. Jim's hands dance over each part, caressing the hammer and the barrel. ]
[ Jim holds it up, aiming at a window but making no move toward firing it. Even the weight balance is different from back home. ]
They look a lot alike, but the firing mechanism's completely different. There's nothing here to heat the plasma.
[ The mention of Jim's room changes the sp]ace around them. For a moment, they're in a burning building, a single open window ahead the only escape. Jim blinks and it's gone - it never happened. ]
[ There is something amazing watching Jim handle the old gun. Watching his expression change and aim it. He leans forward as he listens. ]
The plasma?
[ And then he nearly jumps at the fire that appears around them for a moment. It's gone pretty quickly and there was no heat or smell to it, but it's enough to get him looking at Jim incredulously. ]
Hopping up to stand behind Jim. Putting a hand on hips hip as he helps him get into position for punching. Pausing a moment to press a kiss against the back of his neck. ]
[ He looks back at the bed for a moment already considering untoward things for a moment. Resting his chin on Jim's shoulder as he looks at the desk. ]
Makes it easier for work on bods- boards. Work on t-boards.
[ The fun thing about being in someone's mind - or someone being in his mind; Jim still isn't sure what - is that Zell's thinking untoward things for both of them. ]
Working on bods.
[ Jim's trying really hard not to laugh even as he turns red. ]
[ He's red too, especially with how close they are. Burying his face against Jim's shoulder as he mumbles something with Jim's name in the mix there. Then he's going to let go and move to the desk. Looking at the surface to think about working on his t-boards, but it's interrupted by thinking of working on something else. Just going to not look at Jim for a bit. That's how it will get fixed, right?
Patting the surface. ]
Want to see? [ A pause. ] Not that- I mean, that too if you want, but... T-boards. Want to see?
[ Jim doesn't catch any of that, except his name, but he laughs anyway. His eyes trail after Zell, amused look nver leaving his face - especially when he realizes Zell still isn't looking at him.
He tries not to think too hard about what he's doing when he follows Zell over and hops up on the desk, giving him an expectant look.
[ It's a trap. Zell swallows hard as he looks over at Jim as he settles on the desk. Looking from him, then to the empty surface, and back again as he tries to figure out what Jim means.
His brain isn't going to chill out on certain thoughts any time soon it seems. After a little longer, he moves to Jim to put a hand on the surface on either side of him to box him in. Bumping his nose against Jim's. ]
Usually I lay it down on it's back, take apart the engine, and make sure it has enough lube.
[ His mind isn't supplying him with certain kinds of lubes thankfully. He's actually sharing with mostly innocent thoughts. But the whole laying down thing does send his mind down to how much weight the desk can hold. ]
[ Jim tilts his head, considering what Zell's saying. His own mind is split between the same thoughts Zell is having and actually being interested in how these boards work. He hadn't seen anything like solar cloth around since they'd arrived. ]
What does the engine run on? Some kind of fuel cell?
[ Perhaps unhelpfully, he's got that wrinkly look on his face he gets when he's trying to figure something out. ]
[ While Jim is getting distracted by actual shop talk, Zell is getting distracted by that look. Nudging his legs apart to get closer as he moves his hands to Jim's lower back. ]
When we come here for reals, I'll let you take one apart.
[ Hesitating for a moment before putting his hands on Jim's rear. Leaning close to bump their noses together. Make-outs seem really important at the moment, right? ]
[ Jim cuts off whatever he was about to say as Zell steps things up. He'd jumped up on the desk to tease, sure, but he wasn't really expecting things to go further than that.
He glances toward the floor and then back up at Zell. ]
-Sure this is okay?
[ Even if it is a dream, Jim still wants to make a good impression. ]
[ Don't be a tease in his room while already thinking of certain things, dude. Zell is holding himself lightly to let Jim break away if he wants to. ]
Huh? Okay?
[ Already forgetting someone else is in the house. He's doing a great job at this. He does remember as he looks down to the floor. ]
Oh yeah. [ A pause as he considers it. ] We haven't been caught yet. [ Or maybe Zack and Kunsel have been polite, but he doubts that. ] You know, if you want... we can do something else.

It had been, even if she wasn't real. It just makes him want to meet the real thing more.
-Especially if it got Zell that flustered. ]
Alright, alright, I'm coming!
bullshitting something \o/
Up this way.
[ Finally he let's his hand drop From Jim's side. ]
My room is at the very top.
[ Jim might be able to hear a much younger Zell being amazed that he gets an entire room to himself.
When they arrive, Zell will stand close to the stairs. It's surprisingly clean. ]
So, what do you think Stars?
Re: bullshitting something \o/

This is him?
I have an idea
For a moment a girl with blue on is there. Jim would recognize her from the card of Rinoa.
Is that your grandfather, Zell? She turns to look but fades away again. ]
Yeah, that's him. Meet my grandfather! Those are his old guns he used.
[ Then he remembers something! ] They are loaded.
[ Just in case Jim wants to fiddle with his guns. Zell put his hand on the small of Jim's back as he moves past to sit on his bed. ]
:o
Zell was right to warn him, because Jim's already taking the smaller of the set off the display before: ]

Yeah, you can. They probably aren't like the guns from your world.
[ Already his mind is trying to figure out how they are different. ]
What's your room like?

They look a lot alike, but the firing mechanism's completely different. There's nothing here to heat the plasma.
[ The mention of Jim's room changes the sp]ace around them. For a moment, they're in a burning building, a single open window ahead the only escape. Jim blinks and it's gone - it never happened. ]
My room's... messy. You'd hate it.

The plasma?

Did you see that?
no subject
My room's gone, Sunshine. It all burned.
[ So the fire had come from Jim's mind. He moves over to the larger punching bag and touches it, palms open, before giving it an experimental jab. ]
no subject
[ He says it lamely.
Hopping up to stand behind Jim. Putting a hand on hips hip as he helps him get into position for punching. Pausing a moment to press a kiss against the back of his neck. ]
What did it look like before?
no subject
[ Jim sounds pretty amused about that, actually. He relaxes into Zell, enjoying being guided more than he will the actual punching. ]
Mess everywhere.
no subject
Not at first. I didn't hate your bag.
[ Bumping his forehead against Jim's shoulder. ]
Were there tools and solar surfers parts every where?
no subject
[ Yep, he's definitely amused now. He gives the punching bag another half-hearted jab. ]
Not sure I'd let you touch my tools and crap. How would I know where anything was?
no subject
[ He tries to whine, but really can't. He's feeling elated with Jim standing in his room. ]
Or we could organize it together. You know, when we rebuild it all.
no subject
[ Much better than worrying about putting everything back neatly when the mood to tinker strikes him, right? ]
Wouldn't mind a desk like this, though.

Sure do.
