[ While Jim scans for threats around, Zell is looking up at the ceiling of the tunnel. Relying fully on the hand linked to his own as he tries to figure out if it's man-made or if it's natural.

When he feels the squeeze, he looks down at his boyfriend. Zell knows he's tense. Has been tense since they returned to the ice tunnels. Waking up in the hospital, separations, and monster attacks have all occurred here. On top of that, there was also the maintenance that took place further north. He remembers vividly all the reasons his boyfriend should be apprehensive, but it still worries him. Returning the squeeze as he swings their hands up to kiss his knuckles.

A glance at his tablet tells him that they won't have a lot of time to explore the lake tunnel south. It'll be risking it if they press forward after the hospital, so he's prepared for the Soldiers to call it a day when they reach it. Even with the prospect of a gloomy night, he's still in a good mood. ]

Want a ride? [ He says it quiet enough for Jim's ears only. ] Bet I can carry you and my bag. [ Tipping his towards his back to mean he'll let Jim on his back. He would have to shift his bag around to the front or hand it off to Zack or Kunsel, but he's sure Mochi won't mind. They are practically at the roof of the hospital anyways. ]

[ Jim's careful of Zell, distracted as he is. No need to drag him over a piece of rubble and wind up with them both faceplanting in the snow, especially if something bad happened and they needed to move quickly.

That he's being careful of Zell is why he catches the look Zell's giving him. Jim knows Zell's worried. Jim can't reassure Zell when he's wound so tight himself, but it doesn't matter. Zell's already got a plan.

On a better day Jim would've thought to ask Zell if it would hurt him too much to carry that much, but just now he's not thinking very clearly and just wants to hold on. ]

C'mere. I was getting tired of walking.

[ He wouldn't mind falling in snow if it means going down on Jim.

Zell is quick to respond to that c'mere as he tugs their linked hands to lean in close to Jim to nuzzle the side of Jim's face. Not kissing, because they would never hear the end of it. Shifting his bag over as he kneels down. ]

As you wish. [ He's actually super happy Jim is going for it. Grinning as he looks at his boyfriend as he moves his hands behind his back. ] Get on.

[ It's good they don't kiss, anyway - might end up stuck together in these temperatures, and then they'd wind up as a cautionary tale for newbies. On the guide. Mind your spit, Zell.

Jim clambers easily onto Zell's back, careful of the balance of his own bag so they don't end up eating snow when he gets to a position that he can cling to his boyfriend like a monkey. ]

All set, prince charming?

[ Is he mocking Zell? Is he horribly, cheesily sincere? No one will ever know. ]

[ He's placing his hands on his boyfriend's rear to give it a squeeze before moving them into position. It's silly, but he feels re-energized with the addition of his monkey on his back. Nodding as he stands up.]

All set. [ There is a pause as he considers the new title. ] Does that make you my princess? Or my knight?

[ There's a part of him that really doesn't mind the thought of Jim being his knight.

Even if it's weird, he's pretty glad the snow is packed tight beneath their feet. There's a lack of soft snow to fall or sink in, and Zell has done enough falling in his life. ] Are you holding on?

[ Trusting that Jim is, he maneuvers his bag off as he picks up the pace to catch up to one the SOLDIERs. Handing his bag to one of their friends knowing Mochi won't appreciate the bumpy ride. ] Ready?

[ That's all the warning anyone gets before Zell starts to run the rest of the way to the hospital. ]

[ Zell, Jim will pull your hair next time you call him a princess, see if he won't. Right now Jim just knocks his forehead against the back of Zell's head, the light hit cushioned further by Zell's hat. ]

Onward, your majesty.

[ As ready as Jim thought he was, he didn't expect Zell to go running full-tilt with a boyfriend on his back. He bounces and clings until they burst through the doors of the hospital. Even then, he doesn't let go; instead he buries his face in the collar of Zell's coat to muffle his laughter in case they draw something or someone's attention. ]

Zell!

[ He laughs as he feels the thump against his forehead. Maybe he'll stick to call him his knight, since he's already his Stars. ]

Yes, Sir Hawkins.

[ The clean, antiseptic scent washes over him as he throws open the doors. The oppressive feeling is still a thing, but at least they are furthest away the source. It feels much better with Jim laughing and clinging on his back. Hoping it's the same for his boyfriend, he keeps running up. Circling around the lobby and going straight for one of those VIP rooms with their own bathroom. Skidding to a stop just before hitting the bed and whirling around so their backs were to it. ]

Luggage drop off. [ Not ready to let go of his monkey yet. ]

[ Jim wiggles around so that he can drop his own pack and weapon on to the bed, but monkey's not ready to let go just yet, either. ]

Me too?

[ As he asks he shines the light of the tablet around in front of Zell, taking in the VIP room with sharp eyes before he turns his face back into Zell's neck. ]

End of the ride?

[ Shaking his head. ] Nah, I'm keeping you. [ He waits for Jim to finish doing a sweep from his vantage point before walking over towards the bathroom door. Keeping one hand under Jim, while the other opens the door. ] We can search like this if you want.

[ He'll count it as his workout for the night. ] You can watch my back this way. [ Turning his head to press a kiss against Jim's arm. ]

[ Tempting as that is...

Jim holds that thought as he sweeps around the bathroom, catching nothing but his tablet light bouncing off the mirror.

Safe, he thinks, after a second hard look at the shadows behind the shower curtain. It could just be something very still but - no. Safe. Which means he can go back to the other thing, now. ]

How's the pain, Sunshine?

[ The question's muted, spoken against Zell's ear. ]

[ He'll let Jim investigate as long as he wants back there. To be absolutely sure, he'll move into the bathroom to push back the shower curtain.

~~AND THEN THEY GET ATTACKED BY ROBO SPIDERS.~~

Looks clear. Zell looks for the vent and prods it with his foot when he finds it. ]

Hmm? [ Might be a tad distracted with Jim's mouth being right there. He can feel the movement by his ear and it's tickling him a bit. It's tempting to drop Jim on the bed and see if he can get his breath to hitch or speed up.

Wait. Focus. Swallowing a bit as he looks at the mirror to see Jim's expression lit by the glow of the tablet. He's asking about pain. ]

It's normal. [ A little sad when pain and normal goes hand in hand, but Zell isn't acting like pain is bothering him. He won't turn down any affection from Jim if that's what he wants to do. ]

[ It is a little sad. Jim squeezes tightly for a moment - a silent offer of comfort - and then lets his feet reluctantly drop to the floor. He keeps his grip on the rest of Zell, though, becasue he's not actually finished with kissing him just yet.

As he does, though, an idea occurs to him. It takes a moment of working his foot around without looking, but eventually his boot snags the door and he closes them into the bathroom. It's safe in here, they already figured that out, so why not take a moment to themselves?

That's Jim's logic, at least, as he makes an effort at kissing Zell up against the door. ]

[ This is nice. He'll take it a step further and hook his arm around Jim's leg to pull it up as he leans back into the door. It's been a couple of days since they last had actual privacy and he already missed it quite dearly. Snaking his other hand down to Jim's rear to give it a squeeze. ]

Hey. [ He sounds out of breath as he smiles like an affectionate dope. It's good that the water runs cold because he might need a cold shower in a bit. ]

[ The lack of privacy and anywhere comfortable to be together since leaving the hotel is exactly why Jim's so willing to make out in the hospital. He's discovering that there's a pretty good bonus to be had in distracting him from wanting to panic and escape. ]

Hey.

[ He's just going to fiddle until he can tug Zell's shirts loose from his jeans and stick his hands - still, ridiculously, wearing gloves - underneath. ]

[ He gives a breathy laughter at the feel of the gloves against his skin. This is permission to totally feel his boyfriend up in the bathroom, right? Letting go of Jim's leg as he plants a series of quick kisses against Jim's mouth. Giving a look like he's up to something as he grabs Jim's sides.] Going up.

[ Lifting his boyfriend up walking them away from the door. Setting Jim's butt down on the edge of the sink. Once he's sure Jim is situated, he's shedding off both of his coats to toss on the floor. ]

That better? [ He could take off more if Jim wants. ]

[ It is absolutely permission, though Jim does make a surprised noise as Zell hefts him and deposits his butt on the sink. He leans back, arms propped on either side of the sink, to watch Zell take off his coats - a sight he always appreciates.

He sits forward again and peels off his gloves so he can hold his bare hands out to Zell, drawing him closer. ]

It's better. Want me to take off mine?

[ Tracing Jim's palms with his own gloved hands. Pausing to look at Jim a moment and then drop his gaze down Jim's chest and pants. It takes a moment for him to realize what he means and his attention snaps back up. Giving a sheepish smile. ]

Coats. Right. How long do you think we have? [ Before one of the Soldiers come looking for them. ]

Coats.

[ Jim's agreeing, but he can't help sounding a little amused at Zell's obvious misunderstanding. ]

-Probably enough time for me to take my shirt off, too?

[ He might be just a little eager to repeat some of their new developments. At the offer of taking off his shirt, Zell swallows. Giving Jim's hips a squeeze as he presses their foreheads together. ]

If you don't mind me keeping you in here. [ Kissing the tip of his nose. ]

We should finish checking this floor first. [ Kissing the corner of his mouth. ]

That way we'll know there won't be any interruptions. [ Even as he says this, Zell doesn't move. He's leaving the choice in Jim's hands. ]

[ Jim grumbles under his breath - maybe in English, maybe in some other language that he can only curse in - but he can't disagree with Zell's logic. ]

You need to put your coat back on, then.

[ Hospital's freezing. Jim wishes they could just move into the inn already. ]

[ The grumbling is cute. Still not really moving as he presses his lips against the pulse point on his boyfriend's neck. ] Or you could warm me up after we're done.

[ He likes that idea. Grinning a bit as he slowly peels off his shirts next. Just giving more incentive for the warming him up later. ] C'mon. [ Holding his hand out. ]

You're going to freeze. [ Which is why Jim's looping his own coat around Zell's shoulders, using it to more or less lasso him close for a moment. Boyfriend does not need to freeze off several important parts, okay. ] There. I like it when you wear my jacket anyway.

[ Not going to fight it as he lets himself be pulled close. Giving him a quick smooch. ] Want to wear mine? [ He doesn't want Jim to freeze. Rubbing his hands up and down Jim's sides to keep him warm. ]

Yup. [ He pops the 'p,' sounding pleased with himself. Maybe this was his plot all along? Probably not, but he's happy to put on Zell's red coat anyway. It's big in the chest and shoulders, so he doesn't bother to button it up. ] Ready to go back out there?

[ Jim's not entirely sure he's ready, but... he'll manage. He snags his hat from where it'd fallen on the edge of the sink and carefully puts it on top of Zell's head as they go. ]

[ Zell has some ideas about other noises he'd like for Jim to make. Smiling at the hat that is now on his head. ]

You look good. [ Red is a very nice color on Jim. Leaning close to give him a quick peck. ]

As ready as I can be. [ Which isn't very ready, but he'll follow Jim's lead. Scooping up clothes and heading back to the room. Dropping off his shirts on the foot of the bed. Offering his hand to his boyfriend. ] Let's do this.
