*Tonight's video features snow, rubble, and what appears to be a home decor store. The shelves are basically empty, but damn there are a lot of them. Lots and lots of aisle of...creepy. Most of the video is quiet, but sometimes footsteps (other than Brian's) can be heard and at a few points giggling (?!) happens. The source of the giggling is never seen, but when its heard the picture has mild, rippling distortions. Those happen sometimes for the extra footsteps too. Brian's normal distortions also happen. Thankfully none of those ripple.*
[ Jim's creeping back into the master bedroom after sneaking out earlier to get some of his restless out. The house with the giant sinkhole is quiet and Norfinbury-dark, with only Jim's tablet lighting up the place; he keeps it shining even as he pushes his (now muddy) boots off and climbs carefully back into the bed with Zell, trying not to disturb him. ]
[He's getting better at sneaking, but the light gives him away. It lets Zell know he can actually relax and breathe easy as he noticed the room wasn't as dark anymore. He's not alone anymore.
The blankets probably already lost most of their heat. Zell's back was towards Jim's spot, and his breathing wasn't even like it should be. If Jim touches him, he'll probably feel closer to room temperature instead of warm from being under the covers. There's a rattling sound of pills rolling in a bottle as the blankets are shifted. Whoops, he forgot he left that on Jim's side.
Not that he's hiding, but he doesn't want him to worry. After a second longer, he'll roll over and put his tablet under the covers between them in case Jim needed extra light. Pulling his arm out from under the covers to rest on his boyfriend to feel his warmth and get bit of reassurance this wasn't a dream.] ...hey. [Whispering. Even the house is large, he still didn't want to alert the oldest of the three that he's also awake.]
☼ Shouldn't have said that about you on the network. Or at all. I'm sorry. Don't think it bothered you, but the thing is... it should. You deserve better than that. The truth is, you're not a bad judge of character. Your plan with Brian is solid. You know what you're doing.
You've just got a big heart. Thanks for trusting me with it. ✨
[ Jim's foot hits the pills in the darkness, causing them to rattle; he's fishing them out of the blankets by the time Zell speaks. He's holding his tablet up to read the label and puzzling it out before he glances at Zell and frowns. He remembers, distantly, when they'd first talked; Zell mentioned he'd been in pain. Jim's own pain had faded quickly; he'd thought Zell's would've done the same, but … he'd never actually asked, had he.
He fumbles over Zell to put the pill bottle on the nightstand and shivers as Zell's arm touches his back. It's cold, and that's … well, it's not good. His wide, worried eyes are shiny in the dim light, though his frown is almost invisible cast in shadow. ]
Sunshine…? [ He pulls Zell's head and shoulders into his lap without asking permission and runs a hand over Zell's forehead. He's not sure what he's looking for - fever, maybe. The touch quickly turns into running a hand through Zell's bangs. ] You're up late.
[ It's not what he means to ask about, but he's not sure if he wants to force the issue yet. ] Something keeping you awake?
[He feels a little guilty about making Jim shiver, but he’s not sure if the concern is over the pills or if something is wrong with Jim. Tilting his head to the side to give a questioning look, and before he could respond or ask, his boyfriend is pulling him down onto his lap. He makes a little bit of a surprised sound in response.
Jim touching his forehead and hair earns a content hum. This is nice and reassuring on it’s own. Zell doesn't feel feverish.] Yeah, I’m up late.
[Not that it’s anything new between the tablets glitching up and the group splitting up. In addition, the digging from earlier really didn’t help the sore achy feeling he’s been stuck with since they all got sick almost a couple months ago.
He raises a hand to gesture to the room. There were no snores or gentle breathing from any of the usual traveling companions. No warmth from other bodies or being able to actually reach out and touch someone if he needed reassurance.]
No one was here. [Jim is now and he's warm, which is all that matters. He shifts over onto his stomach and hooks an arm around Jim's lower back.] It makes it hard to tell if it's real.
*Tonight Brian and Jade are touring a small book store, an accessory store and a large library.
The bookstore's shelves are mostly empty (surprise, surprise) but there are a few books still there. They mostly seem to be fictional and range from novels to picture books. None of the books have dates or prices on them. The building itself is dark, as there are clearly not enough windows to light everything. There's a back room that's locked but Brian doesn't spend much time at it once discovering the door can't be opened.
The accessory store was once brightly colored but is now worn, damp and slightly moldy. There are still some scarves, bags, costume jewelry and other accessories in the store but most of it seems ruined.
The library is large, consisting of two floors and has sections that one'd normally expect in a library and a few study rooms. There are also some lounge areas, including a children's libary and a teen's library, both of which have beanbag chairs. At one point Brian cuts open a beanbag chair in the teen's library but there's only normal beanbag chair stuff inside of it. Occasionally there are tables and chairs that look like they once had computers but, like everywhere else, the electronics have been removed. The library, like the bookstore, is mostly empty of books. The books, and few magazines, that exist are once again void of dates and suggested retail pricing. The magazines also lack address labels. There's also a section for movies and video games but it's completely empty.*
Night 94
*Much less of interest this day as most of the area seems to be snow and rubble. (Brian thankfully doesn't send ALL of their rubble wanderings, just bits here and there. Enough to get the idea that there isn't much else to be found.) The only building the pair find is a storage unit that is sadly lacking in lighting. Brian explores it by tablet-light and discovers only illegible and/or crumbling books.*
Night 95
*More rubble, more snow, and eventually a return to the building from the night before. Brian and Jade go through the storage unit again and gets much of the same results. They do find a book cover that looks interesting, something about miniaturization in technology...but the book itself is completely missing.*

[This one won't get a written response. When they are settling down to sleep that night, Zell is going to slide an arm under Jim and drag him over until he's partially on top of him. Pressing a kiss against his cheek, before pressing his mouth against Jim's ear.] Love you, Stars.
[ Operation get the others distracted for the moment, check.
Next part? To tug Zell out of his shame corner. Seriously, he's been acting weird since that morning, even edging away from Jim of all people. That's not normal- and he has a very good inkling as to why. It's the same why that had him retreating from Jim and Hiro that once so long ago.
So, he makes a point now to get his attention, waving him over to the doorway. Talking outside isn't the most pleasant option, but it's the only one they have if they want some privacy. He leans himself against the building itself, hands resting against hips while he fights a shiver with closed eyes. ] So, what happened back there? 'cause I know you never would'a hit me like that without reason.
[He likes his shame corner, it's very comfortable.
He's been fiddling on the tablet and occasionally stealing looks at his boyfriend. He did touch on it with Jim, but he still feels like crap, because Jim wasn't the one he punched. He's GLAD it wasn't Jim, but it could still happen again.
Then he saw something waving from his peripheral vision. Meeting Zack's gaze and hesitating for a moment as he figures out that yeah he wants to talk to Zell. Getting to his feet with less energy as usual as he heads to the door. Pausing to give a final look to his boyfriend, to make sure he knows where he's going and that he's with Zack, before stepping on out to follow the Soldier.
Parking his side against the door frame as he crosses his arms and looks at where he hit Zack exactly.] Something was there. It was going to get us and I needed to stab it. [He furrows his brows as he says this.] I know it's frickin' nuts, but that's what I felt. I needed to get it before it hurt someone.
Because of the - [ He has to struggle to remember the word for it] - time compression? [ Jim feels a twinge of guilt for leaving Zell alone. He'd gotten to the point where he felt like he couldn't stay still anymore, but he should've done something differently. He doesn't know what.
His hand remains resting on the grown of Zell's head, though it's not stroking at the moment - instead it's resting comfortably as Jim looks down at him in the dark. ] This is real. Here. [ He picks up Zell's other hand and brings it up to rest over his heart. ] Want me to get the stethoscope?
[ There's one thing good about layers. It hides the damage, whatever it was. It certainly doesn't hide the occasional moment where he's paused, stiff, before recovering and moving onward, but he certainly hadn't said a word about it since then. Had coaxed every voiced concern with an 'okay' and 'fine' and otherwise had taken it easy. All the squats from the night before certainly hadn't helped his cause, but he wasn't about to complain about that either.
Instead, his attention's full on Zell. The one who while he might not be struggling with so much physically (or so he thinks), he's definitely not been okay in other ways. A way he quickly acknowledges. Zack opens his eyes to watch the young man curiously. ]
A hallucination then. [ He nods just a bit in recognition not really seeming surprised in the least by this revelation although a foul look does cross his face. ] Well, that would explain things. [ There's a short pause before he shakes his head with a softer expression. ] I know it's easy to wanna blame yourself, but it's not your fault. It can be hard to figure out what's real here sometimes. I've got the bruise to prove it. [ A meek smile touches his lips. ]
[He thinks about it. About the almost never ending falling, all the fighting, and then finding himself in a bleak future. Bodies of future SeeD were lying on the ground.
He reels his thoughts in and concentrates instead on Jim's words. His heartbeat and warmth that he could still feel.]
It's real. [He's says quietly, before smiling a bit.
Only to feel warm across his face as he thinks about the stethoscope and that time in the hospital. It was a shitty place, but Jim sitting there in his scrubs. His heart beating and his hands feeling around for the right place to listen in. Swallowing a bit.] I don't know, man. I might use it as an excuse to feel around under your shirt.
[Brushing his thumb against Jim's chest over his heart.] Yeah, Time Compression. It's crazy. Getting there was pretty bad, but that doesn't compare to the return trip. [He got there with the group. They were split when they were returning. He remembers hearing their voices at first, but gradually it all faded away. There was nothing but his foot steps.
Shaking his head and rubbing his face against Jim's inner thigh as he does.]
[He knows his fist connected pretty hard. Zell does have the urge to pull at Zack's layers to check himself how bad he hit the soldier, but they were outside. And Jim could come out and peek at them any time or try to look. Zack made sure Zell knew it was important no one else knew about what was lurking under those garments. Shifting from foot to foot and keeping his hands closed tight as he continued to stare just a bit longer.]
I know it's hard to believe, but it was like I was some where- [And he halts his words as he realizes what Zack says. He's not blaming him. He gets it was a hallucination. It also sounds like this isn't anything new hear.]
Buwah? [Making a rather weird surprised sound as he looks at Zack with a mixture of surprise and confusion. He also flinches at the words figure out what's real here sometimes. Zell resists the urge to look behind him.]
